Mando crosses paths with a group of outlaw pirates, former colleagues of Karga. This leads to a brief confrontation with the leader of the pirates, Vane, and his boss’s name is mentioned: Gorian Shard, the Pirate King. Mando quickly takes down several pirates, but lets Vane go in a decision that leads to another conflict, when Gorian Shard seeks revenge. A dogfight ends when Din Djarin discovers the flagship of Gorian Shardthe new character immediately making a strong impression.
Gorian Shard has a fascinating design, perhaps loosely inspired by the animated corpses of Pirates of the Caribbean. He is played by Nonso Anozie, an English actor and producer. Viewers can be forgiven for not recognizing Anozie immediately, given that the exceptionally imposing design of Gorian Shard hardly lets Anozie shine through beyond her voice. Gorian Shard is presented as an imposing character, with green skin and hair reminiscent of seaweed. He wears a giant cloak, with a silver armored epaulette. Gorian Shard uses a stick to help himself walk and threatens the Mandalorian to return his Naboo Starfighter as reparations for killing his men.
