Dre and Marissa are dependent on each other for different reasons. But when Marissa decides to move on with her boyfriend, Khalid, Dre snaps and undergoes a glamorous makeover. After a night of celebration and love, Dre returns home to find that Marissa’s suicidal tendencies have got the better of her. Dre feels guilty for not getting to Marissa in time and feels even worse when Marissa’s parents kick her out of her funeral.
When all of these emotions collide with the information that an argument with Khalid preceded Marissa’s death and Khalid thinks Ni’Jah isn’t special, Dre kills him, which marks the start of his killing spree. The rest of the series follows Dre who goes from state to state looking for an opportunity to meet Ni’Jah, killing anyone who gets in his way or talks badly about Ni’Jah. Swarm Season 1 Ending Explained
The investigation is accelerating end of Swarm Season 1 when Loretta discovers the Reggie Wilkins affair. Dre didn’t technically murder him, but she left behind four strippers who were arrested for killing the man. One of them mentioned Dre, whom she knew as Carmen.
To the end of Swarm Season 1, Loretta is informed of the arrest of a certain Tony, who rushed to the stage during a Ni’Jah concert. She receives the photo, which confirms that Tony is Dre. The detective discovers that Dre is being held in Atlanta. Since she still has no evidence against Dre, her best option is to talk to the serial killer and see if she can find anything that proves his guilt.
She heads to Atlanta, hoping Dre doesn’t post bail in the meantime. Does that mean Loretta caught up with Dre? Since she was never arrested, it can be assumed that she never entered the system. Today, however, she was arrested. Also, Loretta is on his trail, and she would like to get Dre’s DNA to see if it matches the one that was left at the crime scenes.
To the end of Swarm Season 1 this confirms that Dre will be held accountable for all the people she killed. If Dre can lie to others, she can also lie to herself. We can therefore say that the final scene of the series never really took place.
Although the hallucination is a relatively solid theory, the series never alludes to it. So we can assume that everything happened in real life. To the end of Swarm Season 1 Dre ended up kissing Ni’Jah in his car. This experience, as gratifying as it may have been for her, broke down her walls. After showing kindness, Ni’Jah lets the law do its job and allows the cops to arrest Dre.
