What happened to Kaz’s brother?

The Rietveld brothers were chased through the streets of Ketterdam, the town of Shadow & Bone, when the Plague of Queen’s Lady spread through the town, leading to an epidemic of smallpox which killed many people. Unfortunately for them, Jordie, Kaz’s brothersuccumbed to the disease, leaving Kaz alone in the world.

The situation is all the more serious since it is thought that Kaz also died of the plague, leading to him being trapped on a pile of displaced corpses in the waters of Ketterdam, ostracized from society due to the infection. To know the explanation of the end of season 2, it is here.

The death of Jordie, victim of the plague of the Queen, makes the survival of Kaz more striking in season 2 of Shadow & Bone, for Jordie was the older of the two, and thus the brother most likely to have an immune system that might have better protected him from disease.
