We never really see Lauren die in the second season. She thinks Brayden is taking her to the woods so she can leave town, but Effie appears, and it is strongly implied that she kills the other girl because she was wearing a microphone and gathering evidence against Tariq and the others.

Around the season 3 episode 1 ending, Sullivan visits what appears to be the house where she grew up. A policewoman is present, probably to watch the young woman. When Sullivan asks her how she’s holding up, Lauren turns away from the window and asks how long she’ll have to pretend to be dead.

The fact that Sullivan knows Lauren is alive is interesting because she was the one who told Saxe that Lauren’s body was found by residents outside of town. This led to a guilt-ridden Saxe confronting Tariq and Davis Maclean and telling them they had blood on their hands.
