One Piece Theory: Mihawk Is The Son Of A Pirate Roger And A Former Empress
One Piece has many narrative elements that have been left hanging or only hinted at, as well as many plot points that have yet to be discovered. One of the themes of the story threads questioned is the lineage of the characters – who are the members of Clan D. and how are they related? Is Shanks or Blackbeard the son of Rocks D. Xebec? Who is Monkey D. Luffy’s mother? Most of these questions may be answered later in the story, but there is a theory that has been circulating the internet for many years.
The origins of Dracule Mihawk are shrouded in mystery. It is said that he was once a marine hunter and was Shanks’ rival throughout their career in piracy. However, the place of his birth and the identity of his parents have remained unanswered, as is the case with many characters on the show. Nevertheless, there is a well-known married couple in the One Piece universe who bear curious similarities to the world’s greatest swordsman, and the timeline of their days of piracy and their possible conception of the Cross Guild’s new muscle is consistent. It’s very possible that Silvers Rayleigh and Shakuyaku are Mihawk’s parents.
Trait Similarity Between Shakky, Rayleigh, and Mihawk
The traits of the three characters have obvious similarities. The first is Shakky’s hair. If the fact that she and Mihawk both have dark hair isn’t enough to be remarkable, the triangular spikes under her ears are a little more proof of that. The tips are much the same as the Mihawk sideburns, with both pointing across the face towards the nose. The characters also both have fairly strong, square chins, though this may simply be related to Oda’s general art style. If it were just Shakky’s traits, there wouldn’t be much evidence to make such a claim, but her husband also has a visual connection.
Rayleigh was also originally depicted with black hair, which later turned blonde. However, her facial hair and eyebrows remained black, which could mean her lighter hair color is unnatural. Either way, her facial hair style is also noteworthy. Mihawk appears to have only one beard, as Rayleigh has four. These small clues through facial similarities may seem like creating clues from a simple drawing, but Oda has already shown similarities in appearances in this way, such as Zoro’s facial style related to the Shimotsuki clan, the eyebrows of Sanji following a Vinsmoke theme and Ace and Roger’s messy locks.
How The Timeline Fits Into The One Piece Theory
Comparing ages, Rayleigh is 78, Shakky 64 and Mihawk 44. If Mihawk was their son, that would mean they were 34 and 20 when he was born. Considering they were both pirates at the time, with Shakky retiring 42 years before the story, it’s not impossible that they met at sea and couldn’t be apart each other following a heroic fight between their crews. It could also match the timeline of Shakky deciding to retire and open a bar to better raise his young Mihawk. It might also shed some light on Rayleigh’s commentary about the good old days when she was cradling a baby Kozuki Momonosuke.
Evidence for the truth of this theory is purely circumstantial. Neither Rayleigh nor Shakky mentioned the fact that they have a son, or that this child is one of the most famous pirates in the world, which casts doubt on this theory. Again, time with the pair has been sparse, and their screen time has revolved around Luffy’s progress rather than their personal lives. However, if there was a couple capable of creating such a formidable pirate and swordsman, it would be the former second in command of the Roger Pirates and the former Empress of Amazon Lily.
