Where was Crazy Bear filmed?
CraZy Bear was filmed entirely in Ireland, more precisely in the counties of Dublin and Wicklow, as well as on the island of Dalkey. According to reports, principal photography for this dark comedy began in August 2021 and was completed in October 2021. In order to create the bear with CGI, the filming unit spent a significant portion of its budget on Wētā FX . Although the story is set in Georgia, they chose to shoot the film in Ireland due to the similarity of terrain between the two locations.
Many key sequences of Crazy Bear were filmed in County Dublin. Most of the forest scenes involving the bear and the tourists would have been filmed in and around Barnaslingan. Several important parts of CraZy Bear have been filmed in County Wicklow. The production team reportedly set up camp at different locations around the county to film different scenes in appropriate settings. For example, the Powerscourt Waterfall, located at the foot of the Glensoulan Valley, on the Dargle River.
In addition, the filming unit used sites in the town of Avoca and the village of Enniskerry to film some crucial scenes. Located 16 km south of Dublin, in the Barony of Uppercross, the island of Dalkey would also be present in certain sequences of CraZy Bear. It is an uninhabited island that is home to a colony of seals, rabbits and wild goats.
